Interior decorative coating with metallic effect

Africa permits to achieve velvety chromatic effects and visual and tactile sensations, perfectly aligned with the cutting-edge trends in the decoration of modern interiors. It is a decorative finish for interiors, with soft metallic pigments that create unique games of light and shades.

Africa sensitively reduces the formaldehyde concentration in the surrounding environment, as tested per the specific law ISO 16000-23.

Africa represents the expression of Novacolor commitment to the environmental sustainability. To reduce the “carbon footprint”, Africa is formulated with a special binder, made from sustainable biomass, that replaces the fossil raw materials.

This is possible thanks to a technical-productive system called “mass balance approach” certified REDcert2.

Application:

  1. The substrate must be perfectly dry, dust-free, with no humidity and salt stains.
  2. Resurface or consolidate the surface with specific products if necessary.
  3. In case of mould, treat the surface with suitable specific products.
  4. Brush or remove any efflorescence and old peeling paint.
  5. Higher layers of old lime-based paint and tempera paint must be removed.
  6. Brush out dust, smog or other deposits before the application.
  7. In case of non-homogeneous or chalky surfaces, apply one layer of Decofix (micronized wall sealer) diluted, with a brush.
  8. Over dry and compact substrates, apply one layer of Novaprimer (water-based acrylic pigmented primer), diluted, with a brush or with a roller.
  9. Over dry substrate, apply one layer of Africa with a roller or with a trowel, spreading the paint evenly and paying attention not to create amounts of product. The dry surface must be perfectly smooth.
  10. Remove any exceeding amounts of product.
  11. Once the surface is completely dry, apply a second layer of Africa, not diluted, with a stainless steel trowel or with a shorthair roller using a bit more material.
  12. Work into the surface still wet using a stainless steel trowel with circular movements, working the product until reaching the desired effect.
  13. Drying time: 24 hours approx. depending on the kind of substrate, absorption rate and environmental conditions.
  14. In case of application on highly stressed surfaces, it is advisable to apply of one or more layers of Clear Coat (transparent protective coat for interiors) or Clear Finish Monocomponent (water-based polyurethane protective finish). Apply the protective coat over dry surface and properly diluted.
  15. The best aesthetic effect is achieved by applying the protective coat with a thin roller, proceeding from the top to the bottom of the surface.
  16. Surfaces treated with Clear Coat or Clear Finish Monocomponent might show a slight change of colour, depending on the quantities of product applied.

May also be applied over:

  • Mortars
  • Pre-mixed, new fine plasters
  • Pre-existing lime plasters
  • Gypsum boards
  • Pre-existing synthetic and mineral paints
  • Mineral conglomerates, as long as absorbing.

Approximate coverage yields 8-10 m2 /l, in two layers, depending on the kind of substrate and its absorption rate. It is advisable to determine the real yield with a preliminary test on the specific substrate.
